Bad Day

Have you ever woke up on one side of the bed
When you should have woke up on the other instead?
Maybe you wonder why things are not going
The way that you think that they should to your knowing
And you crawl out of bed and you glare at the clock
With a frump on your face, and a mope in your walk
More problems than pleasures puddle your brain
For one ray of sunshine there’s ten drops of rain

And I’ll be that the coffee you sipped was too hot
While your shower that morning was certainly not
And the mud that splattered your pants was not subtle
As I’d wager a bet you stepped into a puddle
And your car wouldn’t start or even turn over
And unfortunately both your mechanic and chauffer
Are both out of town on a two week vacation
I’m sure you feel un tout petit peu frustration

And you feel something suddenly blossom inside
Something you could not control if you tried
Something that grows with a quickening pace
It’s something that old, immanent, base
And as it bursts out, there are no words to say
When your laughter erupts, and brightens your day
