A cigarettes lament
I
The cigarette lamented
Have tasted the mouths of this generation
The innocent
Bitter
Lips of the youth
Dragging the life out of me
Slowly trying to fill something missing in their lungs
Releasing my hazy smoke
Into the nights air
Like all their unspoken words
And hidden thoughts
I
the cigarette sighed
Have tasted the mouths
And they come to kiss me nervously on summer nights
They hold me with softened hands
And hardened hearts
And I
I wish to give them the solace they seek
So I
I become their companion
As they put my warmth between their lips
They tell me secrets
With each breath of life they steal from me
I take one from them
In return
The cigarette lamented
Have tasted the mouths of this generation
The innocent
Bitter
Lips of the youth
Dragging the life out of me
Slowly trying to fill something missing in their lungs
Releasing my hazy smoke
Into the nights air
Like all their unspoken words
And hidden thoughts
I
the cigarette sighed
Have tasted the mouths
And they come to kiss me nervously on summer nights
They hold me with softened hands
And hardened hearts
And I
I wish to give them the solace they seek
So I
I become their companion
As they put my warmth between their lips
They tell me secrets
With each breath of life they steal from me
I take one from them
In return
