Become someones hero
Almost daily my attention's pointed towards another man who's fallen from grace
Sports figures,Politicians,Men of the cloth
Most times it's just the guy next door
What happens that makes a man forget his purpose
What happen to a man just wanting to be a great father
Someones hero
Single motherhood has become the norm
A man should stand head and shoulders above the rest
At least in someones eyes
I wanted to be like my hero
He wasn't my father or dad
He just stepped into the role
Trying to help me become a good man
I didn't however understand at the time
my character hadn't developed
You see...
Standing upright requires more than standing up
I thought of my hero the other day...when things weren't going so well
I've asked him many questions over the years
I never felt I was a bother
He'd smile and on occasion raise his glass and say,
"boy don't be a dumb ass" in a tone the wasn't condescending
It was then that my lesson would began
I wanted to walk, talk and smell like him
(Clubman for those that don't know)
For me he never fell from grace
He was strong, true to his word
You saw a man's man when you look into his face
Why is it that I still draw from this man
He's My Hero
Who thinks of you in that regard
As a MAN who have you inspired
just your actions ...
Who watches you when you think you're alone
There's a void that needs to be filled
So maybe you could start within your own house
