Diamante concrete coruscating
competing with Christmas Eve sunlight
a fallen tarpaulin blankets the path,
gossamer like.
The gnawing cold bites through my
onion layers,
my gloves providing little insulation.
Sparkles coveting every surface
glittering, glistening,
giving weeds a temporary glow.
I look up overhead to see slate grey clouds,
heaving and stuffy with imminent snow....
