The Warning
He issued the warning from the start,
He said, "Don't catch feelings, it will hurt your heart."
She took his words with a grain of salt,
He reminds her it is not his fault.
Small conversations & a little flirting,
Not giving a thought to who may end up hurting.
He keeps his heart under lock & key,
Hers she wears on her sleeve.
Their "friendship" like the ocean's ebb & flow,
Not knowing how far it will eventually go.
Then one day lustful thoughts become actions,
Neither can deny their sexual attractions.
In the bed they are passionate lovers,
But only "friends" outside of the covers.
She finds it difficult to separate the two,
Letting go of this man is what she should do.
Recalling the warning issued a year before,
Thinks to herself, "obviously we have become more."
He quickly dismisses any attachments they've formed,
And tells her again, "you were already warned."
