Love

For the longest, I have been waiting for you.
I've seen and been through so much just to have this.
You are my friend.
Words cannot express the gratitude I have for you.
At times when I am with you my heart becomes so full it could burst.
When alone I think of you and all that we have done.
You are far from perfect.
So am I.
Yet you continue to love me and all the pain I bring.
When we are separated I have been tempted.
Well-wishers speak into my ear,
Promising me all that are repressed within my dreams.
I escape in my mind what life would be like with them and not you.
It would be perfect. I would have no troubles.
No hardships.
Why won't I go for that?
Why do I let myself stay bound to you?
You've caused me pain and then show little remorse for your actions.
You've made me cry. You've even abandoned me.
Leaving me to walk in the cold and dark alleys of your selfishness.
I hear the evil whispers and see the watchful eyes as I travel.
Though that person, the well-wisher, is perfect for me,
You are my soul mate.
Though we cause pain to one another.
At the end of it all we still love each other.
And will face all hardships together.
What would destroy others weak in heart will make us stronger.
We will not let it take us down.
That is why I stay.
It feels right.
Perfect lasts for awhile, soul mate is your meant to be.
A pretty face and body is just that and nothing more.
They move fast as their comings and goings,
Leaving nothing of their existence behind.
We both know this is love.
Though we're young it's hard to tell if this is true.
But we have those moments that you feel a surge of energy from
Deep within the core of your being.
And it's hard to explain.
People like to question: "How do you know?"
Some things you just cannot answer with words.
All you can do is give them an unsatisfying answer:
"I just know."
And an unexplainable feeling is more powerful than any word in any language.
