jeans & leather
how many of us sit in a lonely room
at a lonely computer
writing lonely, lonely poems
mine rebel at being confined,
so i dress them in faded blues, motorcycle boots,
black t-shirts, distressed leather jackets,
don’t forget the sunglasses
& they rush out the door
like runaways, to shatter the night
rattle the lethargy
make a noise that matters…
dance your tragedies in the street
drink to the passion of rebels
bind with others of your kind –
Sybarites in the gala of Cotytto’s moon
* stain * the * sky * with * fireworks *
make little poem babies
agonize the world
with lonely songs…

Terry Rodgers art is a perfect accompaniment for the stained sky blazoned with lonely poems from lonely hearts.
Poem babies...I think i'll mull about that a bit :)

Beautiful analogies within this and a great message ...
... the title drew me in because I'm a thrift store junkie always scouring for leather biker jackets and they do bring a sense of adventure

this is really really good. I don't just say that. I mean it. I've read a lot of poetry, heard a lot of poetry read, written a lot of poetry...oh hell I guess we all have but this stands out as a gem.
I will offer one criticism/suggestion. I always have one. I don't like how it opens with a question(passive)and then becomes very commanding (assertive/aggressive)abruptly. I just like the passionate direct voice better.
I was thinking what it would be like if you replaced "how many of us" with "so" or "just" . If you intended an abrupt change then it works well. really good work. ending is fabulous. iconic.
oh one more thing. I don't think the title does it justice. All this babbling aside, I love it. I'm quite impressed and inspired.

That you are impressed is certainly appreciated, thank you for that; but Inspired! that is the utmost honor!
I also am grateful for your sterling advice. the poem begins as a sad contemplation regarding the many poems that remain hidden in computer files & notebooks, some gems among them, I feel.
my obvious reaction to that is to let the poems run free, to shout their existence, & damn the consequences!
jeans & leather, to my way of thinking, is a suitable outfit for rebellion.
wow, this was a stimulating interchange. we'll have to do it again sometime...

How can you not love the passion you have. Each piece you present, so insightful, with a colorful delivery. Keep blazing dup.

Ah! I miss my leathers, man. I used to "retire" them through cremation after they wore out, because I didn't want anyone else to have them. Haven't put on a leather in ages. They used to be like armor to me. Like thick, gritty leather armor.
Both gritty & smooth...you're acknowledging the needs & lonelinesses of poets with a confident swagger. I'd be willing to bet that you have a lot of poem babies out there, John...all across the world. Great work!

jeans and leather... it is always a nice outfit to adorn to run away and hide and possible if only for a few minutes to be something you normally aren't. Poem babies, yes I have to agree with everyone there I am quite certain that you have several of those all across the land... excellent ink.

WOW! The idea that poetry has to spread
it's wings, run out for a wild feast,
ride the bike with its chain of words ...
What a passionate image!
Enjoyed that very much!

Mr John Feddeler, this is why the women adore you and the men applaud you.
When you enter the room, the way you walk, the way let those words drip connotations and croon, you command attention. This piece... looks good in leather!

sorry
if my veins drip on the page
with my red slick fingers
as your poem caused me to jump out the glass window of my room and
wander in the night
drunk on air
hungry for her lips
crawling
back before dawn
broken but alive to scribble
bloody thanks
for the smack in the face
to wake up
and live
