Daddy
Daddy,
I need you to know
That the memories
So painfully seared in my mind
Will not leave
They desperately cling to the small shred of sanity I have
Daddy,
I need you to know
That I can't let any man into my life
For fear that they might treat me the way you have
The fence I've built around my heart is the only commitment my heart has
And it reeks of instability
Daddy,
I need you to know
That I'd do anything for you
Anything but accept the fact that the feeling isn't mutual.
I need you to know
That the memories
So painfully seared in my mind
Will not leave
They desperately cling to the small shred of sanity I have
Daddy,
I need you to know
That I can't let any man into my life
For fear that they might treat me the way you have
The fence I've built around my heart is the only commitment my heart has
And it reeks of instability
Daddy,
I need you to know
That I'd do anything for you
Anything but accept the fact that the feeling isn't mutual.
