my son

I want my son to be a strong black man no if ands or buts about it
I want him to be proud of his race and shout it to the world
I want him not to fall into the stereotypical black men who don't take care of their children
or get locked up and then makes excuses for sitting on their ass
and they’re think they to cool to show up to class
And get mad at the teacher because they didn't pass
No
My son will be a soldier
And do what's right and not because I told him
But because he's a real man
One to never put his hands on any woman because she's a jewel
And not a tool to be used
But don't be confused my son will fight if he has to
But first he ask you can we talk like men
And if you refuse he has no choice but to defend his place whatever the case may be
I want my son to smart and set apart from other guys
And I want him to realize that before God there is no other
As his mother I will teach him to hide the word and to guard it like a prized toy
And to never let Satan steal your joy
I want a boy who works hard and doesn't cry when falls
And since I'm a football fan I want him to play football
But if he chooses basketball will be a basket ball fan too
I want a son who is honest and true
I want a son who works from dawn to dusk and I want him to know determination is a must in order to succeed
I want him to learn to provide and feed his wife and kids
And to allow no other man to raise what's his
My son is a prince and his father a king my little girl a princess and I the queen
And my point is my son will be royalty
And I will treat him like such
And whatever he ask for there is no such things as that’s too much
And his father will be his role model
And teach him that when trouble comes not to pick up a bottle and drink away his fears
And that it’s okay to shed tears but also to hold his head high
And show him that a strong black man is a prize
That can't be won
And I know you will be the same because you are your father’s son
