how to avoid actuality

Never trust a philosophy that's too polished
life wouldn't like it.

Let the word anthropologist hurt
so that active involvement
discourages the observer
from poking a pen through experience

never trust a poet

unless it's too late,
don't trust a poet.

It is too late
and there is no more poetry
until the second smartest kid
gets new shoes. The same one
that will drink the most
and have something worth saying
when the rest have fallen away
