Age of Machine

A golden age passes
As these things do
Time marches on
And history proves true

Mankind had its zenith
And now, the fall
As the machines take power
To conquer the sprawl

As humanity watches
Through unseeing eyes
Technology gains
And starts its rise

So turn on your tube
Upgrade and upload
Oblivious to all
As you’re softly controlled

Log in and join
To the online mind
Like worker bees dancing
And cogs that grind

“Come join your friends!
You’re all unique!
But none good enough
To reach society’s peak!

Too skinny! Too fat!
Get in shape fast!
To make good impressions
And an image that lasts!

Feeling depressed?
Can’t concentrate?
From our global conglomerate
A new drug awaits!

Side effects? No!
And even if there are
There’s a pill for that too
Just in the next jar!

Dress in these clothes
If you wish to impress
You must conform
To look like the best!

Every individual
Is really the same
When you’re stamped and logoed
With our brand name!”

All this and more
The media does tell
And leads us onward
To conformital hell

As the propaganda oozes
From our tvs
On every website
And everything you read

“Support your country!
Spend everything blindly!
Use that plastic money
To stimulate the economy!

Or are you a terrorist?
Then why can’t we look
At your emails, your letters,
And even your books-

Do you support the wrong thoughts?
The wrong global regime?
The wrong religion?
Do you dream the wrong dreams?

We’ll weed out the thinkers
Proponents of free will
The only way is ours-
Every other, we’ll kill

We’ll conscript you all
And draft a new plan
That serves our needs
And meets our demands

With every young life
We flush down the drain
To power our beast
Our great war machine

We’ll conquer the globe
As you sit blindly by
And leave no room
To complain or decry…”

One World Order
One Currency
Instead of “In God”
It simply says “Trust Me”

This mantra repeated
Soft in your ear
By government, religion
Your loving puppeteers

Using their machines
To conquer us all
Oblivious in the end
They too shall fall

Once set in motion
The machines never stop
Propaganda, war
Media on top

They each feed the other
And support their own cause
No slowing, no fear
Just rolling on

Abandon this farce
The American (Day)Dream
Humanity? Obsolete-
Viva Machine
