Saved and Slaughtered by Man

Beowulf runs from the bovine
The most common aborigine
Inhabitant from the beginning
To the Ayrshire it is affine.

Bred for savory victual
Yet far from the pedestal
This domestic beasts death
Has come to be so virtual.

And as MacBeth enjoys the brawn
That the nourishment brings at dawn
This subtle beast continues to roam
Thanks to man it is not gone.
