Foundering Ship

The screech of the sirens:
A skin prickling song,
Rises in a clash,
Falling in a crash
Just like the Accathesian waters.
The ripples that wrestled my past,
The teal whirlpool
Swirling all around my present,
Reflecting the darkened sky,
The blackness of my soul.
It hammers at my breast,
Rattling against my chest,
Compressing my lungs,
Restraining my breath;
A mockery, a punishment
Birthed from Poseidon’s laughter.
The chuckle erupts in a wicked, glorious wave.
Oh, mighty God of the Sea,
Answer my cries, answer my pleas,
Why must I remain
When all else has departed?
Answer me, I entreat!
Oh please, oh please!
Like a foundering ship
I sink, I sink, I sink
Why do I cry, why do I scream?
The tides will overcome me.
The waves will rupture
My body, my broken existence.
Dear Neptune, Oh Blessed Poseidon,
You are my tormentor,
You raise the tide,
The monstrous tide,
It will consume me
And pull me into the vortex,
The empty darkened void,
The one reflecting the sky,
The blackness of my soul,
Dragging me deeper
Into the unknown depths
Below the sea
Unraveled by Earth
Where there will be no answers
Where all I will know is questions,
Endless, agonizing questions
Provoked from my past
And revived in my afterlife-
My fate is drowning.
My destiny is death from the sea.
I will not survive this one.
This is one battle I cannot win;
So just give me this one,
This one and only answer
To set my soul free
It be my last will, my final decree:
What are these waters?
Whoosh! The tide rushes
But still all is silent.
Are they a collection of time,
An embodied vault
That holds my ever raining tears?
Whoosh! The tide rushes
No answer, no reply
My heart cracks
My lungs burst
And like a foundering ship
I sink, I sink, I sink
