A SUNRISE DREAM WITHIN A DREAM (10-14-1999; Galveston Island, Texas)
briefly awakened quietly
to morning s earliest light
like a soft ripe fuzzy peach
i slowly reclosed my eyes
to it s sweet sensual reach
in a strange dream like lust
somewhere adrift between
waking and sleep
where
at peace in my nest
i held myself and soon
enough dreamed again
my hands like roots
of muscle skin and bones
gently growing feeling upwards
through my body s own
heated soil like fleshy terrain
as nature slowly came to me
through the sudden
natural realization
which after only
a few moments later
i further realized
was actually more
a sudden reminder to me
that all life all beings all nature
are all only a further
interconnected
living extension
of my own living body
mind spirit and being
which i ve always felt
and seemed
to be able to intuitively
more deeply and intimately
tune into connect with and somehow
mysteriously read like braille
through my eyes my ears
through all my senses
as i realized through my fingertip s
delicate sense of touch
reaching up
through breathing earth
towards spreading light of life
my eyes began
to see
here and there
as landscapes gradually appeared
love opened and ripened
through forested hills
grassy plains
and deep warm valleys
between mountains and seas
of living earth
and sky around me
all yearning to see stars again
then it seemed i slipped
into yet another
even deeper dream
within this one
i m already in
in which i saw a giant
sequoia tree s
ancient textured trunk
rising up through distant green
fractaling fern like canopies above
into the bottomless depths
of deeper blues beyond
it seemed to rise up out of sight
towards both sun and moon
somehow transcending space and time
as i felt sun s touch
fill it s bark and core
then soft and smooth
in bliss it cooled
glazed in silver white light
shining forth from full ripe moon
floating in a silent
dream prone
timeless
boundless sea
of night
when suddenly
even the darkest heavens
were brightened and filled
with an ecstatic flood of infinite stars
that touched the hidden borders
of everything
as the milky way shed it s distant bath
of intimate mystic light upon me
which so softly so sensuously fell
as if to kiss and bless me
between my forested hills
my grassy plains
and deep warm valleys
between my mountains and seas
my earth and sky around me
wherein all things experienced
and perceived truly felt
and seemed as one
as all my soul s
innermost deepest yearnings
were instantly thus satisfied
within this revealing dream
realized within another dream
on out up into
upon and through
this and every
newly arisen
of my dreamtime poem s
strange peculiar
subconsciously mined
even stranger still
somewhat cryptic
to some
perhaps to many
though not to me
as found and seen
in most each and every
of my many
loosely painted
word spill journey s
forever linearly challenged
strange peculiar tale s
semi kaleidescopic
fractured flowing
storied spills
which have always
come and gone
throughout my storied life
up from the unfathomable depths
of all and everything else
i am and know
but also likewise
beyond
everything and all else
i m not and don t
here within
and beyond
both of these two
more clearly perceived
inner and outer
vibrational frequency
quickened heightened
world s and realm s
i ve now so long
been living in
ever since
sometime back around
nineteen seventy eight
or nine
which brings me
full circle
right back here
to this present now
and to this
my most recent
newly arisen poem s
strange peculiar
cryptic to some
perhaps to many
though not to me
loosely painted
other wordly
other worldly
inner journey s
strange peculiar tale s
semi kaleidoscopic
multi dimensional
fractured flowing
flash flood story s
continued ongoing
though still
rather cryptic
mysterious
baffling spell s
hypnogogic
hopefully healing
dream mined purge s
newly liberated
now transmuted
fully manifested
necessary
though still
rather mystic
latest
dreamtime
spill
