crush
I put words together, in my mind,
shuffle them around like I'm playing Sudoku
while drunk, trying my damndest to find
a way to express how your dimples
seem to echo your laugh, a way
to describe how I want to steal away
your thick, knitted sweater
and wear your warmth.
I want to hear your low, rich laugh
in my ear, want to feel your mustache
tickle my neck when you kiss me.
I want to sleep on your crappy bed
with your deflated, tired mattress
and look up at the pictures
that you hung crooked on purpose.
I want to crawl inside your mouth
and take a left turn at your spine;
take hold of your whole brain stem
then pick apart your mind.

while drunk, trying my damndest to find
a way to express how your dimples
seem to echo your laugh, a way

your thick, knitted sweater
