Shattered Soul
He arrived in the dead of night,
Relieved I'd given up the fight.
The twinkle in my eye, he did not see.
I was just as relieved as he.
I stood, awed in his great grace,
As he stepped forwards and took his place.
I looked into his hollow eyes of coal,
Then he began to steal my soul.
It was a relief he was content to give.
To a shattered soul, not wanting to live.
