Yourtimehascomeyouwouldn'tknowit
Your life has become a run on sentence
I told you I wouldn't preach to you this time
It is time for me to get out of your way
As a substance abuser
I fully understand the daily pitfalls
It's Monday has now become as good of an excuse as any for you to pick up again
I held on to you for dear life because
it helps me hold onto me
but it's you that has given up
It's now become a matter of not what can I do for you
but what I need to do for me
It pains me to see you regress time after time
I've convinced myself that I'm trying to help
I'm not
You speak of days gone by when we did our thing as it was yesterday
Twenty five plus years have gone by son
What day is it to you?
You were not embarrassed as my shadow looked in your face trying to read you
Your famous smile was gone
I wanted you to see the smile on my face/ hear the songs we sing
As she questions every little thing
Instead...
She watched you grin your teeth and try and play me
For old times sake
There's always a lesson to be learned; you became the study
You asked for food but I can't feel your real hungry
You never heard the disappointment in my voice
or cared to look me in the eyes
Your mission was clear and now...
So is mine
Your time has come but you wouldn't know it
Peace be with you
