Funny
Tonight I sat through that old movie,
the one we watched three years ago.
I remember being nervous,
I remember you were nervous too.
Us sitting as closed as we dared,
the bed felt like an open field,
and all I wanted was you to kiss me,
and tell me the things you feel.
It's funny how something like that,
can just take you all the way back.
When you thought I was a ten,
and I didn't prefer your friends
to your company,
but I don't find it funny,
that you're on my mind again.
I was near your old apartment,
I was at a party for my friends.
I couldn't get into the evening,
the smile kept slipping off my face.
The smoke was hazy, the drinks were free,
and some guy said, "come dance with me."
Pulled me to the middle of the floor,
twirled me around, and opened a door.
It's funny how something like that,
can just take you all the way back.
When you thought I was a ten,
and I didn't prefer your friends
to your company,
but I don't find it funny,
that you're on my mind again.
Each time I get you buried deep down,
you dig your way back above ground,
but I can't be mad at you for that,
I do the same to you, I suspect.
We're too similar to attract,
without wrecking havoc.
So you'll move on without a word,
until the day that you see a girl,
and say, "I know someone who looks just like her"
it's funny how something like that,
can just take you all the way back.
when you thought I was a ten,
and I didn't prefer your friends
to your company,
