interesting thing you've done here, although i hate the word, soul--don't know what it means and i see it so much that it has become a meaningless word to me and a cliche, but that's my problem--what i really like about your poem is how helpless the character is, as if she has no control over her destiny and that her life is predetermined and her assessment of herself is so matter of fact that almost by rote she accepts who she is, the masochist and can only be with someone sadistic as if we all have patterns within us and little progammed thoughts that we can never change--perhaps this kind of fatalistic approach can even be deemed a positve since we are what we are and must stick to our story as it evolves over and over again in such repetition and imprisionment that it is not even worthwhile to contemplate a change or transformation that would--my own feelings here--undoubtedly bring about immense anguish and pain.  Perhaps the only real criticism I can offer is that if this character does indeed attempt to change would the aftermath be even darker and cause even greater harm than the state she's in that she accepts.  It might be an interesting thing to see unfold.
