Eyes Wide Shut

I may hide behind my
satin eyelids
and lashes covered with teary dew
but there is a fire
burning behind them
and it's not meant for you

My eyes glaze over your every
word..
they are not blinded by your lies
you have lost your position here
behind them your bantering
fades and dies

my eyes burn with a passion
that you will never know
it comes from deep inside
a place I never let you go
or have

i am blessed with recesses
that have no bounds
i reach down deep for them
without uttering a sound

i can feel them rising
like flames to my cheeks
a blush of emotion
is all you seek

and as i sit here in silence
my shoulders pressed back in defiance
of everything
you seem to think i am

you fade away
from my vision
your face just a blank in my mind
my heart won't allow
you near any more
as i close my eyes
you disappear

as far as I am concerned
you
were never here.
