Flatline______

There's a film on your eyes from staring too long
At this blank page where the words hide their song
And the dark lights keep flickering on and then off
Like you wavering on some Godforsaken thought
The blanket
That you've wrapped up to your throat
Closes tighter
And your lungs they just want to explode
But you breathe in and breathe out
Soft then real slow
Like your last chance at living is coming to a close
It's down to now
Now or never we won't know
The bulb's burnt out
And that page is still blank and all but disposed
Are you sleeping?
Your skin has gone cold
Your hands were clenched but, but now they won't close
So misleading
Claiming your soul was still whole
Got a minute left on the contract the devil once sold
Leaving secrets to die as you die
No one the wiser
Those folks, they'll choose sides
They won't know who's wrong and who's right
Because you let go go of your last grasp on life
Your fingers, they were slipping
Tired limbs lost their fight
And it's over
Flatline screams out goodbye
