My "Friend"

What am I supposed to do
when you say that you're
frusterated and confused?

Do I ask vainly if it's
about me?
Am I supposed to act like
your friend or your lover?

I can tell you're in pain.
Something is eating at you
and I wish that I could take
it all away so I could just
see you smile.

I tell you that you can tell
me anything and oddly
enough you did. That you
were glad I'm here for you.

Then...

you kissed me. You said you
couldn't ask for anything better.
To have your best friend and
your love all combine in to
one person.

Me.

I've never been with someone
who was my friend before they
were my everything.
It's the best feeling though.

So, even though I may not
be able to take your pain away.
I make you smile...and I make
you forget for just a little while.
