Slashed with Red
Folded over, crumbled and creased
The white blood cells dead from disease
Idle and denied
Floating on a dream
With a page of paper covered in red ink
Shattering everything she thought she could be
Teetering over the fine print
Her optimism spent as her last few confidants
Became someone else's blind side kick
She just kept staring at those numbers
Like they defined her
Finally shrunk to the size of which she had never truly believed
But always been sure
Now its three two one black and abyss
She was driving through faliures, stop signs and road blocks
And it goes like a jerk of the wheel
Satisfaction's lost all appeal
Chasing after the taste of a meal
But never taking what she could so easily steal
She's hearing their expectations
And glad she's defying what the plan was before dying
Untying the opporutinites
She says, "That's what ruined me"
Vocal cords strangled in a tangle of tries
And no matter how conscious she gets
She's still lost in the haze of her mind
Because these days she's stuck on each phase she can't get by
But she tries, and she tries, and she tries
Until the red ink is all she sees in her sight
When days turn to night
And she's lost in a fight that she memorized the movements to
But forgot them on site
Black eyes and red cheeks
Her spirit starts to sink
Deeper and deeper until its
Three two one black
Before she can think
The white blood cells dead from disease
Idle and denied
Floating on a dream
With a page of paper covered in red ink
Shattering everything she thought she could be
Teetering over the fine print
Her optimism spent as her last few confidants
Became someone else's blind side kick
She just kept staring at those numbers
