Vulture's Delight

As I lay beneath the sun
and watch my life fade away
I think of those I leave behind
and the things I never got to say.

I've lain in this sand for 3 days
the same image burnt to my eyes
watching the black shadow of death
as it circles me in the skys

blood drains from my wounds
sending messages of lust to the beast
but I know it will not land
until my life has ceased

it watches me now with ravenous eyes
waiting patently for its meal
it will strip the flesh from my bones
I wonder how that will feel

by tomorrow i'll be dead
as i fade away i take in my last sight
the shadow of death swooping lower
my carcass on the sand is a vulture's delight.
