The Consequences of Giving

If you give someone your heart,
Just be prepared, my friend.
One day they'll throw it back at you,
'Cause each start has an end.

If you give someone your trust,
Just be prepared to fail.
At some point you'll regret it,
'Cause at some point they will bail.

If you give someone advice,
Be prepared to be ignored.
I highly doubt they’ll take it-
Just assume that they got bored.

If you give someone apologies
Just be prepared to face
A simple shrug and no progress-
That’s usually the case.

If you give someone anything,
One day they’ll let[/font] it fall.
So maybe you[/font] should simply
Not give anything at all.[/font]
