My Declaration of Independence.

 


I don't wanna be smothered
babied or mothered
bothered or brothered
I want to be loved
cherished
given space to nourish
given soil to help me flourish
don't wanna be crushed
captured curtailed
shamed
blamed
defamed or maimed
I want my own life
not family treating me like cake
and they hold the knife
slicing chunks from me
slicing out personality
I YEARN to stretch wings and SOAR FREE
give me death or give me liberty
this is my declaration of independence
of non compliance
of defiance
do not misread this as arrogance
I just wanna live my life
is that so MUCH to ask?





(I feel smothered at home. Made guilty for wanting to be alone or going out. Felt dependent and restricted. )
