what's a butterfly without its wings?
The fluttering of my gorgeous wings
caught your attention
You lured me in with your warm face
and your words, begging
me to trust you
and I did
I ignored my mother's warnings and, trusting
you with my life, I perched
my small, skinny legs
on your finger
Before I knew what hit me, you plucked
my beautiful wings off my now
bare back, stripping me
of all that I had
You abandoned me in the middle
of nowhere
My days of fluttering gracefully
are gone
You left me all alone, scarred for life,
with no one even turning to
admire me like they
once did
Oh mama, why didn't I listen to you?
caught your attention
You lured me in with your warm face
and your words, begging
me to trust you
and I did
I ignored my mother's warnings and, trusting
you with my life, I perched
my small, skinny legs
on your finger
Before I knew what hit me, you plucked
my beautiful wings off my now
bare back, stripping me
of all that I had
You abandoned me in the middle
of nowhere
My days of fluttering gracefully
are gone
You left me all alone, scarred for life,
with no one even turning to
admire me like they
once did
Oh mama, why didn't I listen to you?
