OF FALLEN LEAVES
As the air begins its cooling spiral
Summer battles endlessly with its rival.
August air evading
The falling leaves.
I look into the past only to see
Flaming heat that had brought me to my knees.
Good riddance Summer
Now bring me Autumn.
I gladly wrap myself in her embrace
And let her gentle fingers cool my face.
I feel at home for no reason,
Other than the shifting of the seasons.
I can now breathe, when it turns cold
When daylight dies soon.
Farewell to the sun as it takes the road
Of fallen leaves.
So long to the swims in the lakes,
To setting your skin to bake.
Hell on Earth is finally at an end,
When the sunshine starts to bend.
Time approaches for lanterns and cloaks
As you take a walk through the oaks.
Full moon illuminates wooden paths,
A symphony made of mewling black cats.
I can now breathe, when it turns cold
When daylight dies soon.
Farewell to the sun as it takes the road
Of fallen leaves.
Autumn wraps her loving arms around me
Full of kindling warmth and nurturing.
A flight of bats from the mission bells,
Campfire unleashing a savory smell.
But too soon Autumn’s day will come
A day when her lingering shadows run
Away from the bite of frosty death
And on that she will take her final breath.
But for now…
I can breathe, when it turns cold
When daylight dies soon.
Farewell to the sun as it takes the road
Of fallen leaves.
