Tell your grandchildren
Docile for a while
after breakfast, you stared over at the Albanian coast
we sat on a shared towel blanketing bumpy pebbles
I stared too through the sun splashed horizon,
then at you
wanting a hug, wanting you to stay beside me.
Less than a forty eight hour introduction
you made me smile again
without dreading next mornings alarm.
But you left, after kissing me in front of fellow tourists
having lunch.
I felt them staring
Now I'm home still hoping for correspondence
but have that certainty that I may aswell be waiting
for heaven to throw down a grandparent
it will never happen
trust me to trip again
now I'm suspended like a fruit bat trapped in
a pet shop
maybe I'll hold these butterflies down
with a net and give you a call.....................
