Sentiments Towards the Non-Sentimental
The more I get to know certain people, the more I realize I never really knew them.
I watch as those who I once considered “good but somewhat distraught” steal, betray, lie, and break the hearts of others with which I’ve made an acquaintance - who I consider friends. But do I really have any friends? Would any of them ever drop anything for my sake? Is there anything in this world for which they find self-sacrifice worthy? Today’s average people have so little that they live or would die for. Sure, I may be inconsequential to them (I can deal. I grow indifferent), but it seems to me that so is everything and everyone else.
Users and consumers: They use the facade of love and friendship to leech on others until they stop providing them pleasure and usefulness. Any pain or loss is avoided at all costs - leading to pain and loss amongst those they passively abuse. Todays parents rely on underpaid school teachers to fill in the role of instilling values and morals into every child in their over-packed classroom….. and thus, the hole in the souls and hearts of our youth remain unfilled. They grow to be callused superficial shells of people who value reality shows, but not reality - things, but not virtue - connections, but not relationships.
There are few gems in this rough world, and fewer still those who make an effort to chip away the hard grey exterior that obfuscates the sparkling excellence deep within…..of which, even its value is completely relative; Subjective and deemed useless by the masses.
But, if you ask me . . .
