i believe that
we spend our whole life
finding ourselves

choosing which way to go
led by bemusing road signs

learning values and lessons
from misunderstood strangers

but today
when you told me
to "believe in myself"

i repeated those words
a hundred times in my head

figuring out
how i could see a light
that's never been lit

wondering how i could believe in myself
