Moonlit Shore
Walking along the train tracks
Watching as each track passes
Passing through my very soul
Like butterflies through the sky
Trees outlined by moonlight
I can see a plane in the distance
Carrying souls, they know where they go
I had no idea
No idea where I was going
Or that white flowers along the sides of the paths
Could be so beautiful in the night
Or that the rocks in the distance
Held that moonlit shore
I just wanted to get away from it all
Love letters written on the rocks
I wonder how many hearts blossomed in this place?
The sea as black as an unlucky cat
One I would pass, just to feel its waves
Just to hear it's beautiful crashing sounds
Watching as it sweeps like an orchestra conductor
Never missing a beat, painting the sand
Rocks of all shapes and forms as far as one can see
Reflecting in the moonlight
Like hands supporting my very being as I walk
Mesmerized by how different the world looks from a distance
Tiny lights reaching across try to touch me
Just out of distance, I feel no need to reach back
But instead sweep my hand through the water
Feel its cold touch and fall in love
And find that one special rock
Different from all the others
To keep with me forever
Watching as the moon moves every so slowly
Just as we move through life
One moment at a time
I want to be trapped in this moment for eternity
I want the sea to sweep all my problems out
And feel the effervescent happiness as it flows around my feet
I'll never forget you, my lady of the moon
I leave a piece of me with you and hold a piece of you
And return upon those tracks, tracing my soul
As the tracks return through the moonlight
and the crickets sing to me as I return
Whence forth, with a photo of happiness in my mind
From that Moonlit Shore.
