A First For Everything

The sign read “Exit”,
two lovers pushed through
wooden doors,
stumbling,
drunken legs,
arms around shoulders,
smiles on  faces.

They began to walk,
she jumped
his back was her roller coaster
ride across the parking-lot.

Her thighs slipped under his finger tips,
a few steps,
they felt the falling.

A concrete caress
of a friendly shove,
enough to topple
the hunchback princess and prince.

The rush of liquor,
blood
shocked their bodies;
all he cared about was her safety.

His head cut,
red wound.

She was unharmed.

The journey home was damp,
cold,
somehow they were warmed.

She was concerned about his injury;
he waved her words
past a half smile.

He offered his jacket as a token
of affection;
she was worried about his naked arms.

Their frames stumbled
into his doorway;
laughter from a conversation echoed
in the hall,
they carelessly kicked footwear
to the floorboards,
bodies soon slouched
over flower stained couches.

Phone calls for a ride were dialled,
she decided to stay.

Towards the staircase they tripped,
into his bedroom they kissed,
pushed to the mattress they fell;
buttons unbuttoned and clothing stripped.

With her mouth in control,
he willingly let her
speak her mind,
but what came out was
an absence of words.

They remained calm,
still,
two lovers reached the summit,
lying side by side
breathless.
