Country Girl Diaries (pt1)
The road has been a long one
This small town ahead, it looks to be a refuge
For a bit anyway
Am I coming, going or staying?
Lately just going
Looking for a place to hang my feet
But, I might be staying in this bitty town
‘cause my truck’s spitting smoke
Makin’ some noises I don’t know
It won’t help me at all
But I’ll pop her hood anyway
Looking at a jumbled mess
It don’t take long though
Even in this one horse town
Before someone comes along
Another truck slows alongside me
I’m greeted with the slobbers of the dog
And the sexiest young woman stepping out
My truck is forgotten though she offers her help
My words are stuck as she peers in my truck
I can’t take my eyes off her
Can only offer a smile
The weakest one I ever gave
And I nearly faint when she returns with the curve of her lips
Her fragrance intoxicating
It’d be a sin not to get closer
But she turns and even a slip of paper
Couldn’t be squeezed between us
She places her hand on my waist to steady me
Though she doesn’t know it’s her that weakened me
She starts to remove it
And before I can stop the words
I utter, “Please don’t.”
So she slips it around me
Pulling me closer
A kiss neither started, but neither ended
