My Caretaker

I want to say he's mine.

My man. My lover. My equal
My confidante. My friend

The caretaker of my spirit
Doing repairs on my soul
Asking nothing in return.

I Want to look after him too
Like he looks after me.
I want to be there for him
I want us to laugh together
after rain clouds have passed
When the dust storm settles.

I want to hold on in the dead of
night as he sleeps and tell him
many, many stories about the
true love I have found.

Discovered me he has.
Discovering myself along the way.

Now I see myself as something
more, So much more than a
convenient moment in time.

He sees what others overlooked or
are just to blind see.
I'm not invisible or invincible;
I'm here as I am, Fragile, This is me.

He's not for quick fumbles for his
own personal pleasure cruise.
He don't show me off around fickle
friends then placed on the shelf to
collect dust.

He puts me first
He strokes my hair
He touches my cheek
Taking the tears away
In his eyes whatever happens;
I'll always be special;
Makes me feel number one.

To me he's everything I could ever
want.
Neither perfect,  but somehow connecting
together like jigsaw pieces.
Nothing else will ever matter when true
love comes calling.

For this, I give thanks to God
And that's why I love him so.

Look out for him and keep him from harm
I'll wait forever and more
Till I can call him mine.

Thank you Lord for listening.

Amen.
