A New Dream
From head to toe
Submerged in water
Being dragged under more and more
Fighting for a grasp on air
But slowly recognizing it's not there
Breathing in deep, in search of relief
But drowning further, deep into grief
Recognizing I might not make it out
My thoughts questioning my beliefs
Putting my whole body in doubt
'Wake Up!" I scream
I open my eyes slowly
The numbers on the alarm clock gleam
Flashing over and over that it's "6:15"
Opening my eyes further
I'm awakened from my dream
But the feeling's still there
I've awoken into another nightmare
Submerged in water
Being dragged under more and more
Fighting for a grasp on air
But slowly recognizing it's not there
Breathing in deep, in search of relief
But drowning further, deep into grief
Recognizing I might not make it out
My thoughts questioning my beliefs
Putting my whole body in doubt
'Wake Up!" I scream
I open my eyes slowly
The numbers on the alarm clock gleam
Flashing over and over that it's "6:15"
Opening my eyes further
I'm awakened from my dream
But the feeling's still there
I've awoken into another nightmare
