Demon you say? Am I supposed to take offence?
Why? What does that word mean to you?
Do I appear evil from where you stand?
That is fine, you are free to think for yourself
I will not even bother defending my actions
But allow me to explain something else
There were no monsters beneath my bed
None hid in my closet or within the walls
The bogeyman did not haunt my dreams
No demons lurked in the alleys or behind the trees
No vampire wished to feed off me
Gremlins did not lurk in cracks or holes
The Devil never did anything to cause me harm
But your god… Now there's a different story
A man of god with righteous claims
Was the one who branded me with ‘righteous’ flames
No it was no demon who pressed my face against the stone
It was but a man who raped me when I was young
No fictitious apparition tried to make me drown
No that was but a woman, average in every way
A woman from whom I was born
A woman who I was nothing more to than a thorn
There were no taunting shadows to make me cry
Only rocks thrown from little boys and girls
It was not a kind or gentle hand that saved me
It was a voice, cold, cruel, and strong
No morally pure people stopped to help me up
It was through will and will alone that I survived
I stand here and say that I had no parents
For I believe that to be a right, not a claim
All they ever did for me was bestow my name
I raised myself, I’d have it no other way
Glad of the suffering each and every day
Because I can say I am happy with my life
Could you honestly do the same?
I no longer think of my past as a tragedy, but a gift
If it wasn’t like that maybe I would have ended up like you
Ignorant, unappreciative, and ‘misunderstood’
Bitch cry me a river for I couldn’t care less
And I have but one more thing to confess
I like very few people, I never have, I never will
If you do not like it, who cares?
I shall lose no sleep over what it is you think of me
So yes call me a demon better that than a human
