Friends...

I've had many... too many in fact to count
Some, I was unworthy to have
Others, unworthy to have me
My current group ... amazing to say the least
While  never tested  
I believe if asked, they would never ask ... WHY
Should I be measured by their actions
One would find them as deep and refreshing as an artisan well
Natural, without added filters
Their reflections makes me a giant among men
 
They give me my space ...I respect their's
 
A Young Lion
Who protects his home with an unwavering determination
 
A lover of the world  
Who see the good in all despite ones short comings
 
I live vicariously threw them
Wanting to take a more active role but limited both physically and mentally  
 
I'm treated as if the things I say and do matter
I appreciate the invites but I'd be out of place
 
My role now ... to watch and learn
 
I've someone now who requires me to stay in touch  
I can't relax, not just yet
 
You see, your friends should educate
While they change with the seasons
They should never hinder your growth as a person
 
I've redefine my role however...
I'm a better man, friend and husband because of them
