Lessons and Living on the Edge

No matter what others look like,
act like, seem like,
or how they present themselves,
the reality is that
life is difficult
and full
of pain and suffering,
so what can we really do
about the fact that one
of these days
we are all going to die?

Everyone is wounded,
no matter who they are.

They might speak of heaven
but drive like hell in cars.

The thought that you might see them
so open, with no paws

is just the thing that leads them
to point out all your flaws.

They find the scratches on your car
and circle all the dents

and then when they are finally home
they downgrade where they went.

There's nothing good no no no way
their lives are fully lost

and when they look at other's lives
they add up all their costs.

What to do with all this pain
and how to kill this quest?

Won't they simply let it go
and give it all a rest?

The problem is with time gone by
and how it fleeting leaves

They feel they need a reason to
stay fearful on their knees.

I for one am happy that
I'm still alive at all

for how else would I be here now
unless I learned to crawl?
