Voices
They are all chattering at once, Please stop, please stop! “She is screaming
The voices in her head will not quiet, silence never heard
Each one speaking out loud, communicating with the other
How does one turn it off? They will not without medication
Lying in bed she wonders who she should listen to.
Do I wake up and go to the bathroom? One argues
Do I get up and go to the store? The other thinks
What can we wear today? Another asks
All at the same time, her head is spinning with such confusion
Wishing for sleep, why don’t these voices allow rest, allow one a tranquil moment?
Paranoia sets in; everyone is out to get her.
Every person has an agenda, they are searching for her
Why won’t they go away? Why can’t they leave her alone?
Is all she asks
The voices in her head will not quiet, silence never heard
Each one speaking out loud, communicating with the other
How does one turn it off? They will not without medication
Lying in bed she wonders who she should listen to.
Do I wake up and go to the bathroom? One argues
