the dark and the light
the pleasure and the pain
all the pieces that don't clean up well
that don't look good
in the light of day
the razor-edged shards
that cut when handled
and the dull lackluster fragments
that can never be polished
the smile that you share
and the tears that you can't
good and bad
right and wrong
