Myself
I am myself
An incomplete reflection of my soul shown in limited colors
In truth, I am who I wish to be but never show
In the darkness I embrace myself, finally at peace
But within the light I revert, I become an undefined mask,
not completely untrue, but, not really me
One side happy, pure, yearning for acceptance
The other calm, guarded, proctective, keeping safe the soul within
A daily conflict raging within
Trying to figure out who I am
Trying to understand the radiant being within
Wanting nothing more than to embrace it
But always that mask, that barricading wall
Keeping guarded the secrets inside
If only through barbed wire and steel bars
I am myself
I will never be who i'm not, even if my mask is
some day Ill show the world my true self
Not a copy, not a reflection, and not a fake
Someday I'll show the world i'm not a mask
And I'll probably fall
And I'll probably be ridiculed
But in the end I'll be myself
And that's all that matters
An incomplete reflection of my soul shown in limited colors
In truth, I am who I wish to be but never show
In the darkness I embrace myself, finally at peace
But within the light I revert, I become an undefined mask,
not completely untrue, but, not really me
One side happy, pure, yearning for acceptance
The other calm, guarded, proctective, keeping safe the soul within
A daily conflict raging within
Trying to figure out who I am
Trying to understand the radiant being within
Wanting nothing more than to embrace it
But always that mask, that barricading wall
Keeping guarded the secrets inside
If only through barbed wire and steel bars
I am myself
I will never be who i'm not, even if my mask is
some day Ill show the world my true self
Not a copy, not a reflection, and not a fake
Someday I'll show the world i'm not a mask
And I'll probably fall
And I'll probably be ridiculed
But in the end I'll be myself
And that's all that matters
