lesson learned

     
     
not saying I’m the only man who ever made a mistake      
but I’m the only one I can talk about truly      
     
so      
I made a mistake      
treated another human being      
like 5 years living under the same roof      
meant nothing      
     
walked away holding ashes      
and left anger in her chest      
     
can say it's changed me      
not so fucking sure I am the legend      
seems like I might be just human      
     
and it's made me feel a little beat      
thinking I must be what everyone ever said I was      
have lived my life proving them wrong      
     
they weren’t wrong      
     
not saying that for pity      
just saying it ‘cos it’s true      
     
going to wake up tomorrow      
and walk the earth softer      
     
Buddha said it;      
something about life      
and a pond      
and making no ripples      
     
fair enough      
lesson learned      
     
less ripples it is
