Angel is Free

on a harsh winter's day
frost layers the earth
and on the frozen ground
an angel screams
her tears freeze in perfect crystals
and i am filled with such conflict
should i pull my pistol
or should i set her free ?

her skin feels cold
but her eyes are alit with flame
and in her voice echoes the pain
I finally caught an angel
but i never thought
it would be this way
I put the gun away
and took her in my arms
and said:

stay still now dont you cry
the light in your eyes is my lullaby
please don't let that flame
die on me babe
for now just sleep
and dream of heaven for me

the sun is gone
the sky is grey like ash
the wind whips the earth
and I take her away
from the harsh world
I hold her close to keep her warm
wrap her up in my winter coat
and I whisper past the storm

and then came dawn
gold and pure
