Ode to the Over-Thinkers
I wish I could tell you
Just how hard I tried
to help you realize
that you were not pinned down
so you didn't have to hide
Even when you messaged me
at 4am
when I responded
you still didn't want to be pinned down
So young
so dumb
you didn't know what you wanted
so scared
so confused
you could always just say what you wanted
And when I walk through the park
I don't think about you
no not anymore
And when I'm at work
I just don't care
say what you will
you knew what it was
you chose a cowards way out
and ran from me
If I give you
the impression that I'll stay
or that I'll care for you
and not throw you away
I'm sorry
I learned my lesson
I just wish
that I could tell you
but then I would have to
man up myself
and it wouldn't help
you won't let yourself change your mind
So fuck it
Just how hard I tried
to help you realize
that you were not pinned down
so you didn't have to hide
Even when you messaged me
at 4am
when I responded
you still didn't want to be pinned down
So young
so dumb
you didn't know what you wanted
so scared
so confused
you could always just say what you wanted
And when I walk through the park
I don't think about you
no not anymore
And when I'm at work
I just don't care
say what you will
you knew what it was
you chose a cowards way out
and ran from me
If I give you
the impression that I'll stay
or that I'll care for you
and not throw you away
I'm sorry
I learned my lesson
I just wish
that I could tell you
but then I would have to
man up myself
and it wouldn't help
you won't let yourself change your mind
So fuck it
