A Blinding Eclipse
the world casts a shadow over my heart today
a blinding eclipse of sorrow and woe
tears bleed the color from my humbled eyes
and I blink quickly so the pain won't show
I touch my cheek and a stain appears on my skin
transferring the color of painful memories
the paralyzing thoughts of a final goodbye
and the time since spent in disparity
I contort my face and force myself to smile...
and try shift my thoughts to a time of lesser grey
when I could see a light cast in the dark
and the mirrors reflection didn't see me this way
the gleamless shadows of my sullen eyes
stare lifelessly into a void of nothing
life drips color into deadening thoughts
to fight off the rush of reality
the ever darkening hues of spinning dread
swirl before my bewildered eyes
the shadows move within the vortex
and devour the colors from my mind
wearily the day passes with impulses of desperation
an eternity dies as the second hand unwinds
lost within the shadows of the eclipsing sorrow
I erode in slow motion with the flowing of time
a blinding eclipse of sorrow and woe
tears bleed the color from my humbled eyes
and I blink quickly so the pain won't show
I touch my cheek and a stain appears on my skin
transferring the color of painful memories
the paralyzing thoughts of a final goodbye
and the time since spent in disparity
I contort my face and force myself to smile...
and try shift my thoughts to a time of lesser grey
when I could see a light cast in the dark
and the mirrors reflection didn't see me this way
the gleamless shadows of my sullen eyes
stare lifelessly into a void of nothing
life drips color into deadening thoughts
to fight off the rush of reality
the ever darkening hues of spinning dread
swirl before my bewildered eyes
the shadows move within the vortex
and devour the colors from my mind
wearily the day passes with impulses of desperation
an eternity dies as the second hand unwinds
lost within the shadows of the eclipsing sorrow
I erode in slow motion with the flowing of time
