Image for the poem siren-song

siren-song

cast out like weeds and worn-out fashion
clarion bells sedate my passion
abjure the siren-song of love
and all the treachery thereof

a lonely heart is still defined
by sight of love, but love is blind
lovers to loneliness are doomed
as sailors on a shoal, marooned

confine my tears to poem and prose
beware the thorn that slew the rose
conceal my wounds aesthetically
and love will not remember me
