the mighty oak  (recovering addict)

a little over a year ago a seed was planted in the soil that promised a better life. this seed was so unsure of what to do next. not knowing how to grow. not knowing how to live. perfectly content in the darkness of the known. so scared to reach out not knowing what might come.

but slowly and surely it began to grow, inching closer and closer to the light. it took a chance and sprouted up into the world. still just as scared still just as fragile. then it noticed it wasn't alone anymore. there were other seeds that had sprouted too.

there were saplings much bigger and much stronger. they too had gone through those same fears. those same doubts. they told the little sprout its ok to be scared its ok to have doubt. we were once where you are and look at us now.

the little sprout had no idea how or why it believed the others. all it knew was that it liked what it saw. it too wanted to grow bigger and stronger. it too wanted to be one of those saplings that helped the next seed break from the soil, the fear, the sorrow.

the harder it worked the more that it grew day by day the little sprout got bigger and stronger. it wasn't afraid of the unknown anymore. it was ready for whatever this life had in store for it.

then it noticed something it had never seen before.this thing was huge it was beautiful it was mighty. for you see a there was another seed planted many years ago. with all of those same fears and all of those same doubts. but through courage and hope and waiting for time. this seed had turned into the mighty oak.

the sapling wanted to be just like the oak tree big strong beautiful courageous. it asked the mighty oak. how can i be like you. i too want to be courageous. i too want to be beautiful.

the mighty oak looked at the sprout and said...................you already are. you may not always see it. you may not have noticed. but your not a seed anymore. your not just a sprout. you are something much more something that this world has been waiting for.
one day you too will be the mighty oak......
