Bob Sikes Bridge
Driving past random roadkill
A sea of glittering green corn
surrounds me
(us)
it reminds me of Tunnelton
and demonic dogs
an afternoon spent with you
in a long-ago summer
chasing [our] ghosts..
My heart keenly aches:
for what was then
and what is now
but mostly for what
might have been.
I tried so hard to love you
to be your soft place to fall
but I was too
weak
so we both fell
we just landed too far apart
to find each other again.
The broken pieces of our lives
only confound and confuse
us
I cannot unite them
in order to unite
us.
But you are still beautiful (I know)
in my eyes
and my love is boundless
and infinite.
Funny....
after all these years
I still cannot discern
the language of
your soul.
And yet here I am
still missing you
just like I always do...[/font]
