As she fights an overwhelming enemy
he watches over her with tenderness and care
she feels all alone, angry, sad, and depressed
she can not feel him, that for her he is there

As she fights the battle against addiction
he gives her strength to keep up her fight
muscles aching, body shaking, withdrawal
nausea and anxiety cause a sleepless night

As she fights, cravings rule her body and mind
agitated when awake, nightmares when asleep
this evil drug has control of her body, her soul
he watches her family, for her they all weep

As she fights, as she surrenders to rehabilitation
the battles get tougher before it gets better for her
he hopes for her, he prays, he feels her pain inside
never leaving her alone, calming her as she stir

As she fights this relentless battle against this drug
as her friends and family pray to help give her power
as her own body screams for her to go get more
he stays with her, trying to guide her through a dark hour

As she fights, as she begins to heal and get stronger
he stays with her each night and every single day
he is her guardian angel, she needs him for strength
